Working Parent & Volunteer Kittitas ValleyWhy I'm Running for State Representative
The Central Washington we call home is under attack by the bureaucrats of Olympia.
Washington State needs people of courage to challenge and change the status quo — or we will lose this lifestyle we cherish so deeply. The only way to accomplish this is to elect Constitutional Conservatives who will ensure citizens' freedom and liberty in both voting and bill-writing.
That's why I'm running. I've laid out 10 Priorities to Fix Washington State — a common-sense, results-first agenda to protect the families, businesses, and way of life that make the 13th District home.

Meet Joshua
Joshua Thompson is a small-business owner, husband, and father who moved to Central Washington to revive his childhood summers at his family's Idaho farm and raise a family.
As a current City Councilmember for the City of Ellensburg, Joshua has already made the tough votes and policy decisions while defending citizens' rights to voice their opinions in public meetings regarding the City's use of DEI practices. He also was the only city council member to expose a fraudulent consultant's report — a report that would have caused the City undue financial casualty. Known as a Central Washington fiscal hawk, he was cheered by the large crowd in attendance. He has been interviewed and highlighted by both podcaster Brandi Kruse and KIRO conservative radio host John Curley for his courageous and principled defense of citizens' 1st Amendment rights. All this while having his house attacked and his family harassed online.
With a degree in Business Economics, Joshua has spent more than 20 years in the private sector — consulting on business, technology, and marketing for companies large and small, including projects with some of the nation's most demanding companies.
Never in Washington State's history have so many bills been anti-family — and that's the center of the problem. How can any couple raise a family when housing is unaffordable, quality companies are leaving over taxes and regulation, children are under attack in schools, parents' rights are being dissolved, and laws encourage crime and unsafe streets?
We need to get back to this immediately. Right now the state is unfriendly to companies both small and large — the large ones are leaving, and the small ones are going out of business.
Remarkably, with one of the greatest rivers in the country, we face a shortage of both clean and accessible water. We need to finish the Columbia Basin Project, protect our dams, and develop new energy policies that let Central Washington flourish.
Over the last decade, state agencies and legislators have waged a campaign of unconstitutional abuse against farmers and ranchers — driving thousands of farms out of business, pushing suicide rates 400% above the average citizen, and making family farming and ranching unprofitable.
We're spending ever-larger sums while math and reading scores fall year after year — all while parents' rights are limited and boys continue to compete in girls' sports and locker rooms.
Washington needs 50,000 housing units a year, and we're building only 20,000. The shortage keeps prices high and hurts our economy — driven by extreme regulation and absurd green mandates that raise the cost to build by 30%. I'll fight to lower building costs and put more families into homes.
We have a spending problem — on things Washingtonians don't even want. We need to cut taxes dramatically, or companies won't stay and families won't have the money to live a normal life. The push for a state income tax is just one more example.
Right now, legislators in this state are trying to destroy the freedom and liberty protected by both the Washington and U.S. Constitutions. Every vote I cast will honor both — and I'll write new bills to protect our freedoms and liberties.
Washington ranks last in the nation in officers per capita. I'll work with fellow legislators — and with the current administration in D.C. — to fix it. We need safe cities, and our businesses need to know we support them.
The COVID era exposed the disdain many legislators have for faith-based groups. People of faith deserve to know that government will not interfere, and that their right to worship will be protected.
Never have so many bills been anti-family. Joshua will fight for affordable housing, parents' rights, safe schools, and streets families can count on.
Washington has turned hostile to employers large and small. Joshua will cut the taxes and red tape driving jobs out of Central Washington.
With one of the nation's greatest rivers, we still lack clean, accessible water. Joshua will finish the Columbia Basin Project, protect our dams, and modernize energy.
These are just the first three. Joshua's full 10 Priorities to Fix Washington State are rolling out now — see where he stands on each.
